America’s Oldest Madam is 78 and is arrested.
She uses an inhaler and a walking frame, but was arrested as part of a vice crackdown. She admitted taking over the business from her daughter, who died a few years ago, to supplement her retirement income. Officers said they began to suspect her age when they spoke to her on the phone during the undercover operation. She could be heard catching her breath and used old fashioned language, like “dear” they said.
She faces up to five years in prison if she is found guilty, but police say because of her age, health and clean record, she would be likely to be given probation.
